How to Use Microsoft Teams for Your Therapy Session

This guide will walk you through the steps of using Microsoft Teams for your therapy session. Teams is a video conferencing platform that allows you to connect with your therapist from the comfort of your own home.

Before Your Session

  • Access Microsoft Teams: You can use Teams through your web browser (no download required) or download the free Teams app for your computer, tablet, or smartphone from microsoft.com/teams.
  • Test Your Equipment: Ensure your microphone and camera are working properly. You can do this by checking your device settings or using the video call test feature in Teams.
  • Find a Quiet Space: Choose a private and quiet location for your session. Ensure you won't be disturbed.
  • Have Your Device Charged: Make sure your device is fully charged or connected to a power source.
  • Check Your Internet Connection: A stable internet connection is essential for a smooth session.

Joining Your Session

  1. Click the Meeting Link: You will receive a unique Teams meeting link from your therapist for each session via email. Click this link a few minutes before your scheduled appointment time.
  2. Join on the Web or in the App: You can choose to join directly in your web browser or open the Teams app if you have it installed.
  3. Enter Your Name: If joining as a guest, you'll be prompted to enter your name before joining the meeting.
  4. Allow Camera and Microphone Access: Teams will ask permission to use your camera and microphone - click "Allow" to enable them.
  5. Join the Meeting: Click "Join now" to enter the session.
  6. Wait for Your Therapist: You may be placed in a virtual lobby until your therapist admits you to the session.

During Your Session

Video and Audio: Your therapist would prefer you to have your video and audio on, though this can be discussed with them.

  • Mute/Unmute: Use the microphone icon at the bottom of the screen to mute or unmute yourself when needed.
  • Camera On/Off: Use the camera icon to turn your video on or off if required.
  • Focus on the Session: Try to minimize distractions during your session.

Tips for a Successful Session

  • Good Lighting: Ensure your face is well-lit for better video quality.
  • Eye Contact: Look at the camera, not the screen, to maintain eye contact with your therapist.
  • Be Mindful of Background Noise: Choose a quiet location to minimize distractions.

Absolutely. Hypnosis aids the creation of a trance state which is a very natural state to be in. It is simply a relaxed, focused state of awareness. You remain in control throughout the session, and you can open your eyes and return to full alertness at any time.

We work quickly, usually 8-12 sessions, though sometimes more. Some clients notice positive changes within a few sessions. We regularly review your progress together to ensure you're moving forward in a way that works for you.

Each Solution Focused Hypnotherapy session follows the same structure:

  • A brief, future-focused conversation
  • A relaxing hypnosis experience (you'll just sit back, close your eyes, and listen)
  • Time to reflect, relax, and reset

Yes – all sessions are held online via a secure, private video link. It's easy to use and allows you to attend from the comfort of your own home.

Sessions are typically £75.00 for 60 minutes.

Package options may be available if you'd like to book multiple sessions in advance.

An Initial Consultation is free of charge.

I kindly ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your session. This allows me to offer the slot to someone else.

Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice may be subject to a full session fee. I understand that life can be unpredictable, so please get in touch if something urgent comes up.
